After Oct. 31, Downtown Suwanee Runs on Dates, Not Routine

"Open until Oct. 31, weather permitting." That is how Jose Hevia described the first season of Suwanee Circle when he spoke with the Gwinnett Daily Post this spring, around the food truck park's grand opening on the hilltop at Town Center on Main.

Oct. 31 is also the last summer Saturday for the Suwanee Farmers Market. When the market comes back on Nov. 7, it runs shorter hours on a less frequent schedule. Through Halloween, downtown had weekly habits you could count on without checking anything. From November into December, the weekends are built around single events with fixed dates, so planning a downtown outing now starts with the city calendar.

The two weekly habits that change after Halloween weekend

The farmers market is the clearer of the two. The City of Suwanee's market page lists the Summer Farmers Market every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, May through October, at Town Center on Main & DeLay Nature Park, 421 Main Street. The Winter Farmers Market runs on select Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m., November through April. A four-hour market every week becomes a two-hour market about every other week. The posted winter dates for this year are:

  • Saturday, Nov. 7
  • Saturday, Nov. 21
  • Saturday, Dec. 5
  • Saturday, Dec. 19

That leaves two summer-hours Saturdays before the switch, on Oct. 24 and Oct. 31, both 8 a.m. to noon.

Suwanee Circle is the second habit. This was its first full season. The grand opening ran March 28 and 29, 2026, with food trucks, live music, artist tents and games. Before that, Jose Hevia told the Gwinnett Daily Post, the Hevias spent about 18 months running the site as a pop-up for special events and grand openings. They served drinks from tents and temporary structures and brought food trucks in. According to the same article, the permanent park has space for six food trucks plus two permanent structures, an outdoor island bar and a stand-alone beverage station. The Hevias hold concession rights in partnership with the city, and Angie Hevia manages day-to-day operations.

The couple are not new to feeding Suwanee. The paper reported that they owned and ran restaurants in town for 20 years, including Cheeky Mexican Taqueria. In the spring, Angie Hevia laid out the weekly plan this way:

"We're going to do Music Bingo every Wednesday night and trivia every Thursday night and we'll have live music on weekends."

That quote also comes from the Gwinnett Daily Post. The city's Town Center on Main page still lists hours of 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Treat Oct. 31 as the date the owners expected back in spring, not a confirmed closing. For which trucks are coming and how late into the fall the bar stays open, check Suwanee Circle's website or its Instagram.

What fills the weekends instead

The city's calendar from late October into early December is mostly one-time events, and several weekends stack two of them close together. Here is how it lines up for anyone reading this the week of Oct. 22.

Saturday, Oct. 24. The summer market runs 8 a.m. to noon at Town Center on Main. That evening, Dinner & a BOOvie takes over Town Center Park from 5 to 10 p.m. The city's listing includes trick-or-treating along the Town Center merchant storefronts and a movie in the park.

Saturday, Oct. 31. This is the last summer-hours market, 8 a.m. to noon. The Walk to End Alzheimer's starts at 8:30 a.m. at Town Center Park that same morning, so both downtown parks have something going early on Halloween.

The weekend of Nov. 7 and 8 is the busiest stretch before the holidays. In order:

  1. The Winter Farmers Market opens its season Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m., at Town Center on Main.
  2. Suwanee Wine Fest starts at noon Saturday at Town Center Park, an hour after the market closes.
  3. The Suwanee Classic Car Show runs Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Center on Main.
  4. During the car show, at 1 p.m. Sunday, the Suwanee Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosts a half-hour Veterans Memorial Celebration at the Greater Good Veterans Memorial in the same park.

Saturday, Nov. 14. The Art on the Run: Turkey Trot 5K is set for 9 a.m. to noon at Town Center Park.

Saturday, Nov. 21. The second winter market runs 9 to 11 a.m. It's a good morning to stock up before Thanksgiving week, since the next market isn't until Dec. 5.

Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5. Jolly Holly Day fills Town Center Park from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with Santa's arrival, school performances, crafts and vendors, food vendors and the tree lighting. The winter market follows on Saturday morning.

Two parks, one Main Street

Most of these events land in one of two places, and the pattern helps with planning. The large one-time events, including BOOvie, Wine Fest, the Turkey Trot and Jolly Holly Day, are all at Town Center Park, at Buford Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. The market, the car show and the veterans ceremony are at Town Center on Main, 421 Main Street.

Town Center on Main sits on a 25-acre site at the corner of Suwanee Dam Road and Main Street that the city bought in 2002. The site includes the roughly 13-acre urban park, with volleyball courts, a 1,200-foot bridge across the park and the Greater Good memorial. Right next to it is DeLay Nature Park, about 15 wooded acres along Brushy Creek that hold the half-mile Brushy Creek Greenway from Stonecypher Road to Suwanee Dam Road. PlayTown Suwanee, the city's rebuilt playground of nearly an acre, is next door too.

None of those depend on an event or a food truck schedule, so they stay open on winter weekends between the dated events. A two-hour winter market on Nov. 21 can turn into a whole morning with a loop on the Brushy Creek Greenway and time at PlayTown.

What's next on Main Street

The Hevias told the Gwinnett Daily Post that plans for a Phase II at Suwanee Circle were already in place. Jose Hevia described the goal as attractions "five days a week," with live music, cultural events, art events and sporting events. The article did not say what Phase II will include or when it will happen.

Main Street also has a restaurant still in the works. In June 2025, Suwanee's Downtown Development Authority announced BOCA Taqueria for historic Pierce's Corner at 597 Main Street, with Mexican dining downstairs and an omakase experience on the second floor. The target was spring 2026. That season has passed, and the city's current construction activity page still lists Pierce's Corner as under renovation for a new restaurant, with no new opening date. For now, the corner is one more downtown project that will be easiest to follow once there's a firm date.

Until then, your downtown week depends on the calendar more than it did in summer. The weekly fixtures run through Oct. 31. After that, the market meets on its select Saturdays, the big events fill Town Center Park, and Brushy Creek and PlayTown are there for every weekend in between.

If you're in Suwanee and spring is when your own plans start to change, the quieter months before then are a good time to get ready.
